Assignment 3

Answer the 3 questions questions in at least 4 complete sentences.

First we will watch this video on media influence in our daily lives.

1. What does the video say about how media influence works on individual people?

This video says that media affects our view of world in several ways, it influences on individual people in several ways. It influences by priming, which is that it might make you recall old ideas, knowledge or experience. By agenda setting, which is how media controls the information we get, and that editors have power because they are able to choose which stories to tell. Framing affects because a  spin applied to messages we may see or here on media, because that choose how to tell them. Another influence is cultivation, which starts to blur lines between real world and the ones on TV, which persuades people to adopt a new idea or a new practice. In a world like ours it is impossible to avoid media influence, but by understanding how media works you can seek back your own perception.


Then we will watch this video on 21st century social media trends.

2. What is your favorite fact pointed out in the video? Explain why this fact is important or interesting to you?

The fact I most like on this video is that if Facebook were a country, it would be the third largest. I think it is so incredible how just one social media site can have so much impact on the world, and all over it, because Facebook is used in so many countries by so many different people. Almost everyone you know has a Facebook, and a lot of us check it practically every day. This is just so incredible what one social network can cause. This is why this fact, I found to be the most interesting, and my favorite.

Media is the main means of mass communication (esp. television, radio, newspapers, and the internet) regarded collectively.
MULTIMEDIA is the combination of one or more media.
     When text, still images, sound, video, and animation are combined that is an example of multimedia.
       The most recognizable form of multimedia is the World Wide Web.

3. How is multimedia affecting our daily lives? Do you think there such a thing as "too much media" in our lives?

Multimedia is affecting our lives in such a big way, mainly because every year there is something more advanced and new to it. I definitely think that there is something as too much media, in our lives. We sometimes use it excessively, and sometimes we use it for such simple things that we can do manually, as they say "Everything in excess is bad". However, I do think that multimedia has given many advantages to our world, we just need to able to control it and have a limit.

Assignment 2

1. What media is used in my everyday life?

Media that is used in your everyday life includes: computers, TV's, cellphones, telephone's, radio's, etc. We use this almost everyday to help our needs, and to entertain ourselves. They all help in their own way, but the one we probably use the most everyday is our cellphone. Which helps us communicate with each other and organize our everyday life.

2. In what ways have I used multimedia for a class assignment before? 

I have used multimedia for a class assignment when I need to do essays, powerpoint presentations, research and more. Multimedia helps us in many ways and it gives us advantages when doing assignments at school. Your laptop or computer device can help you research, make a presentation for the class, create a document of an essay, and many other things. It is a great way for us to be able to do assignments efficiently and find important information.

3. Explain how the World Wide Web is considered multimedia.

The World Wide Web is considered multimedia because we use it on a computer or cellphone, and we can search for anything all over the world. It can be a video, an image, a pdf file, and even more. It is just incredible all we can find on the World Wide Web.

4. What is the difference between time-based media and static-media? Give examples of each.

Time-based media refers to art that depends on technology. Usually time-based media are video, slide, film, audio or computer based. Static media is literal in the sense that the media it includes does not move. Newspapers, magazines, posters and books are all examples of static media. When advertising, businesses will pay thousands of dollars in order to secure a page of advertisements within a popular magazine.

5. Insert a video (into your blog) that discusses/shows/involves multimedia you are interested in. Now answer the following questions after you insert the video. How is this multimedia? Why does this interest you?




Define the following terms by researching for answers on the World Wide Web. 

6. Adobe Flash

Adobe Flash, is commonly referred to simply as Flash, it is a system for computers that is usually accessed through a web browser, though it is also used for standalone development and as a method of creating compelling user interfaces and menus on some cell phones. Flash also supports streaming video on sites like YouTube. 

7. Programming Languages

It is n artificial language that is used to write instructions that can be translated into machine language and then executed by a computer. English and other natural languages aren't used as programming languages because they can't be easily translated into machine language. A compiled language is a language in which the set of instructions (or code) written by the programmer is converted into machine language by special software called a compiler prior to being executed.

8. Scripting Language (program)

It is a computer language that is used for text manipulation, especially on the World Wide Web.

9. Interactivity

In computers, interactivity is what occurs between a human being or, another live creature, and a computer program. Programs that run without immediate user involvement are not interactive; they're usually called batch or background programs. Games are usually thought of as fostering a great amount of interactivity. 

10. Pixel

The basic unit of the composition of an image on a television screen, computer monitor, or similar display.
